Times are changing. This could really be the beginning of a body revolution and we have endless amounts of people to thank. Women who stood up and said: “We will not allow you to judge us based on our body type. We are strong, smart, honest, witty. We do not need to be a size 0 to prove that.” Women who have defended other women when they were put down for their weight. Hopefully body-shaming comes to a complete end soon.
I’m just wondering why the fuck it matters if someone is a stick figure or a circle. People are beautiful no matter what size they are. And it makes me sick that this model is considered PLUS SIZED?! I prefer the term full figured. K.
I really like that this talks about body-shaming in both directions; skinny and “plus-sized”. People think that only the bigger girls have a hard time, but the naturally super skinny ones do too. People should realize this and stop making comments like “i don’t need to be a size 0 to look good” or “0 isn’t a real size” or “real women have curves” because you’re just putting down girls who just happen to naturally be a size 0 or just super skinny and can’t really do much about it. Body-shaming goes both ways and neither side should be a part of it.
What it really boils down to is that women are not objects. We should not be defined by how we look, the way inanimate objects are. We should be defined by our interests, wits, accomplishments and personalities. Its ok if an ugly man has a good personality, but if an ugly woman has a good personality she must wait for someone to come give her a make over or to loose some weight before anyone even looks at her. It shouldn’t matter if I’m a size 0 or a size 80, it should matter that I’m creative, and I like to laugh and that I’m headstrong in my dreams. Women are treated like objects and the only way it can stop is if we drop how we look and pick up who we are.
